Print Production Designer (Hybrid)

New York, NY | Job #1333789

Location: New York, New York
Job Type: Contract
Compensation Range: $30 - 34 per hour

We are seeking a Print Production Designer to step into a high-visibility contract role supporting permanent merchandising across multiple retail accounts and formats.

In this role, you will act as the crucial bridge between initial creative vision and final vendor execution. Working closely with our Art Directors, you will take approved design concepts and flawlessly translate them into flawless, pre-production artwork and mechanicals across a massive volume of physical retail deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Take Art Director-approved concepts and adapt, scale, and resize them across a wide variety of permanent merchandising formats and display dimensions while maintaining absolute visual consistency.
  • Execute clean, simple typography layouts and specialized retail bullnose designs.
  • Build and pre-flight precise mechanical production files, ensuring they are 100% accurate and technically ready for handoff to external print vendors and mechanical houses.
  • Systematically organize, label, and maintain all creative assets within a shared cloud server environment.
  • Support high-level retouching, precise color matching, and rigorous print proof reviews to ensure final physical production matches strict layout specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Proven background in heavy print production design, with a demonstrated ability to manage tight timelines across a high volume of concurrent projects.
  • Prior production experience within the beauty or consumer packaged goods (CPG) retail industry is highly preferred.
  • Accustomed to collaborating directly with Art Directors to execute technical artwork while maintaining a strong internal sense of design, typography, and photography style.
  • Expert-level mastery of the core Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Deep understanding of print production workflows, bleed/trim requirements, color separations, and mechanical house handoff standards.
