Web Production Associate

Location: Washington, Washington, D.C.

Compensation Range: $35 - 38 per hour

Our client, a prominent non-profit charitable organization, is seeking an early-career to mid-level Web Production Associate (Contractor) for their Communications department to help fill an immediate void on the production team. Reporting to the Manager of Communications Project Management, this individual will collaborate with an existing team of two producers and a Senior/Principal Web Producer who will oversee training and task allocation. The position is an execution-focused, individual contributor role primarily aimed at addressing a backlog of basic HTML/WYSIWYG tasks, supporting day-to-day maintenance on the organization's primary public website, and executing post-refresh legacy site cleanup from a website relaunch.

Predominately remote, but has to be local to DC to be onsite for onbaording and as needed/desired.
 
Responsibilities:

• Manage web production requests through completion, using Adobe Workfront to track assignments, timelines, status, and handoffs.
• Build new pages and update existing pages in Sitecore, using approved templates and components.
• Format and QA content for publishing. Check copy, links, metadata, and page layout. Fix issues before publication.
• Support site promotion and cross-promotion by adding related links and updating components as directed by the web team.
• Update and maintain existing content so pages remain current, accurate, and aligned with site standards.
• Support post-refresh cleanup projects, including auditing older pages, improving formatting and structure, and making updates based on direction from the web team.
• Use digital assets to strengthen web pages, including selecting and cropping photos, embedding graphics and multimedia, and following accessibility requirements (alt text, captions, headings).
• Apply basic SEO best practices in daily production work, including page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, and URL hygiene as applicable.
• Work within digital editorial process, publishing standards, and quality controls.
• Assist with testing and quality checks for small site updates and improvements as needed.
• Help document production workflows and recurring standards as needed. 

Qualifications:
Required Experience & Skills

• Experience Level: Ideally 4 to 6 years of experience in digital web production, but open to sharp, junior talent who can learn systems quickly.
• Technical Proficiency: Prior experience working within a Content Management System (CMS). Specific knowledge of Sitecore is highly preferred but not an absolute requirement, provided the candidate has general CMS fluency.
• Core Web Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of basic HTML (e.g., building tables, modifying copy formatting elements). Deep coding or CSS styling is not required, as the role primarily uses a WYSIWYG editor.
• Workflow Management: Hands-on experience using Adobe Workfront or a highly comparable enterprise project management/ticketing platform.
• Quality Assurance Focus: Exceptional attention to detail with proven experience running manual QA passes on web copy, links, visual layout continuity, and metadata.
• Accessibility & SEO: A practical understanding of web accessibility best practices (WCAG compliance for headings, alt text, and captions) and basic on-page SEO optimization.
• Communication Skills: Strong collaborative and verbal communication skills; ability to align efficiently with internal project stakeholders and take direction from senior advisory peers.

Nice to Have:

• Specific experience with Sitecore CMS architectures.
• Experience handling high-volume backlog cleanups or digital content migrations following a major corporate website refresh.
• An editorial or copy-editing background to enhance autonomous QA verification before publishing.
