Technical Program Manager - E-Commerce and MarTech

Charlotte, NC | Job #1365976

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Job Type: Contract
Compensation Range: $50 - 70 per hour

A leading omnichannel department store retailer operating nearly 300 locations across the Southeast alongside a major e-commerce flagship is seeking a seasoned Technical Program Manager. Reporting directly to the VP of IT, this individual will lead high-impact technical initiatives across E-Commerce (Ecom) and Marketing Technology (MarTech) platforms.

This role requires a hands-on, highly experienced technical program leader who can build strong relationships with cross-functional partners-ranging from software developers and engineering leads up to executive leadership (including the SVP Chief Digital Officer). You will manage monthly release cycles, sprint planning, complex vendor tool integrations, and major technical projects (such as platform replatforming and new MarTech capability rollouts).

Responsibilities:

  • E-Commerce & MarTech Program Delivery: Drive end-to-end technical execution of complex digital initiatives, including monthly release cycles on the main e-commerce platform and new tool integrations across marketing channels (Email, SMS, Push notifications).
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary technical program leader interfacing daily with IT delivery leads, engineering managers, developers, UI/UX teams, product owners, and marketing business leaders.
  • Agile Governance & Program Tracking: Utilize Jira and Smartsheet to build project roadmaps, track critical path dependencies, manage RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), and lead cross-functional sprint alignment meetings.
  • Vendor & Integration Management: Coordinate and integrate multiple third-party technology tools and vendors into both the core e-commerce architecture and MarTech stack.
  • Planning & Strategic Alignment: Lead technical planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies to align delivery schedules with broader enterprise business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10-15+ years of progressive project/program management experience in large-scale, fast-paced technical environments (retail or e-commerce industry experience strongly preferred).
  • Technical Depth: Hands-on experience driving technical delivery alongside developer teams, engineering managers, and enterprise IT leaders; fluent in technical software development workflows and architecture terminology.
  • Core Tooling: Expert-level working knowledge of Jira for sprint tracking and Smartsheet for RAID logs, critical path modeling, and portfolio status reporting.
  • E-Com & MarTech Expertise: Proven track record managing large-scale e-commerce projects (replatforming, feature releases) and multi-channel marketing technology rollouts (Email, SMS, Push).
  • On-Site Collaboration: Must be based in (or willing to relocate to) the Charlotte, NC area to work on-site 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) to build strong, embedded relationships with cross-functional leads.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
