We are seeking a Workfront Fusion & Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to maintain and enhance the automations that power our marketing content supply chain. This role will provide critical coverage for a key Fusion engineer during a high‑volume period (year‑end work and Adobe rollout), with the potential to extend into a longer‑term engagement.
You'll design, support, and optimize Workfront Fusion scenarios and related Workfront/Adobe integrations that move metadata and assets across systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on Fusion practitioner who understands data flows, field mapping, and content publishing workflows across Workfront, Workfront Planning, and Adobe Experience Cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and optimize end-to-end Workfront Fusion scenarios to establish flawless data synchronization across Workfront, Workfront Planning, and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Design error-tolerant, scalable automation workflows featuring detailed logging, proactive monitoring, and automated remediation paths to ensure uninterrupted operational continuity.
- Execute metadata transformations and field mapping across disparate enterprise tools to guarantee absolute data consistency across all digital marketing channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional product leads and marketing operations teams to integrate Adobe Experience Cloud applications, including Adobe Express workflows.
Workfront Fusion & Workflow Automation
- Maintain, optimize, and extend existing Workfront Fusion scenarios that:
- Trigger on key events (e.g., status changes, checkboxes, go/no‑go decisions).
- Move and transform data between Workfront Planning, Workfront projects, and AEM (Adobe Experience Manager).
- Ensure metadata remains consistent and accurate across systems.
- Design and implement error‑tolerant, scalable automations with appropriate logging, monitoring, and remediation paths.
- Review existing scenarios and documentation to absorb and own critical integrations, ensuring continuity during the coverage period.
Content Supply Chain & Data Management
- Support workflows that manage thought leadership and marketing content, where Workfront Planning is used as the database of record for metadata that ultimately publishes to:
- Public sites.
- Markets.
- Social and other downstream channels via AEM and related tools.
- Ensure robust data naming, mapping, and transformation logic across custom fields and forms, including:
- Field transposition where names/structures differ among Planning, Workfront, and AEM.
- Guardrails to protect data quality and avoid duplication or loss.
Adobe & Integration Support
- Collaborate on ongoing Adobe Experience Cloud initiatives, particularly around:
- Integration of Adobe Express with Workfront as we transition from Marcom Central.
- Support for AEM‑based content pipelines and publishing flows.
- Participate in or support the upcoming Adobe engagement (4-5 weeks) to ensure Workfront/Fusion automations align with new Adobe workflows.
- Partner with stakeholders exploring API‑based integrations (e.g., exporting data to tools like Shorthand) and advise on how/when to leverage Fusion vs. direct APIs.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with WSA/Product Leads to divide responsibilities across integration vs. administration/configuration.
- Marketing operations and content supply chain leadership to align automations with business priorities and timelines.
- Participate in regular check‑ins and planning conversations to:
- Understand new requirements.
- Prioritize enhancements.
- Communicate risks, impacts, and trade‑offs.
- Create and maintain clear documentation of scenarios, data flows, and operational runbooks to support handoffs and long‑term maintainability.
Primary Goals (Initial Engagement)
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of existing critical Workfront Fusion processes during a key team member's absence.
- Stabilize and, where appropriate, streamline and optimize current Fusion scenarios that support:
- Thought leadership and content metadata flows across Planning → Workfront → AEM.
- Workfront‑based workflows tied to Adobe Experience Cloud tools (AEM, Adobe Express).
- Support the Adobe Express rollout by enabling or adjusting Workfront/Fusion integrations needed to replace Marcom Central.
- Provide enough documentation and knowledge transfer so that the environment is well‑understood and maintainable beyond the contract's initial period.
Qualifications:
- Advanced hands-on expertise in Workfront Fusion, including designing, troubleshooting, and managing complex, multi-step automation scenarios.
- Deep technical knowledge of Workfront structures, Workfront Planning, custom forms, and integrations with enterprise content platforms like Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

- Demonstrated ability to:
- Work with metadata models, field mappings, and naming conventions.
- Design error‑tolerant solutions with appropriate monitoring and remediation.
- Troubleshoot issues across multiple systems and teams.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Comfortable working in a large, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting large‑scale marketing or content operations in financial services or similarly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud (AEM, Adobe Express, DAM workflows) in connection with Workfront.
- Exposure to API‑based integrations (REST, JSON, etc.), including when and how to complement or extend Fusion with direct API calls.
- Prior experience in transition/coverage roles, where absorbing and stabilizing existing automations is a key part of success.
- Ability to operate effectively across Eastern and Central U.S. time zones; other time zones considered for exceptional candidates who can align to those hours.
Engagement Details
- Contract role, initially focused on coverage during a 4-6 week leave period (around year‑end), with the potential to extend based on business needs and performance.
- Remote, with a strong preference for candidates who can work Eastern or Central U.S. hours to align with the core team.
- Expected to collaborate closely with existing team members (Fusion SME, WSA, marketing operations) and participate in regular stand‑ups/check‑ins.
- Start date targeted to allow for:
- Completion of background checks and onboarding, and A short overlap period with the existing Fusion engineer for knowledge transfer.
